I saw several people mention that when using a T400 (with ATI) with a docking station and 2 external monitors, each time the computer is turned on, its like spinning the wheel as to what the monitors will do.
Wrong resolution, laptop monitor instead of external, etc. Every time, it is something else.
I noticed that it only happens with Vista, and not with XP. So what's the difference? The switchable graphics. Disable it, from the BIOS and set the system to use descreete graphics, and the problem is solved.
Ever since I did it, my external monitors all come on properly, no "musical resolutions" or any other issues.
Downside is that if I need to switch to integrated graphics, I have to do it in the BIOS. No big deal, at least for me.
