new hard disc - restore factory contents?

#1 Post by soris » Tue Dec 02, 2008 3:18 pm

I have installed a new 160 Gb Hard disc in my Thinkpad T40. I have the recovery and restore program on 8 CDs. I start with the first CD (boot) and arrive at the program where I can start "restore factory contents". And here is the problem: When I choose "restore factory contents" I get a message that "IBM Prduct recovery has been removed from this system" and I never get the possibility to use the rest of the CDs! Please help me anyone!

Welcome to the Forum, Soris!

Please see the thread Problem restoring T42p - the first reply by GomJabbar - maybe that also apply to you? If not, one might suspect that your R&R media could be defective? Also, see the thread The recovery DVD doesn't work. [T60p]. Are you perhaps able to borrow another set from some ThinkPad-friend nearby? If so, that would be my next choice... Furthermore, there is a very useful R&R FAQ on this forum; FAQ "How to use Recovery CD Disc Set" - it may be worth browsing, too.

PS: I found the above threads by using the very effective Search function available here in the forum... you may perhaps want to try it out yourself? Note the existence of the "Search for all terms"-option.
