Thinkpad 600x now has a flashing battery light

#1 Post by Tateman » Thu Jan 13, 2005 5:34 pm

I recently got this 600x laptop from a friend. Everything was working good, I bought a battery for it. It had been working fine until today. I tryed to plug it in, and the battery light just keeps flashing now with no charge in the battery. The battery is completely dead now. Is there a way for me to get it to charge up?

I don't think windows can see a battery there either.

Thanks,
Will

Is it possible somethign came loose on the inside? A couple of weeks ago, I did take it apart to see how difficult a proc upgrade would be. Everythign worked fine after that.

I know this battery is good, but I have no idea why it stopped charging.

Did you update the embedded controller?

I recently updated my Bios and Embedded Controller to the latest versions, as soon as I did the controller, the computer stopped recongnising my generic replacement battery - and I can't seem to reverse the [censored] update because in demands a full battery before letting me install an older one.

Will,

I suspect the battery is dead due to an internal short.

Don't leave it in the unit.

James

Yeah, I pulled the battery, and am trying to get an RMA done on it. We shall see what happens :)
