T60 users with Hitachi 7K320 please report your temperature

#1 Post by propellen » Wed Dec 03, 2008 2:43 pm

Hi,

If you are a T60 user with a Hitachi 7K320 disk, please report CPU-, GPU and harddisk temperature.
Please state what OS you are running as well and state whether your palmrest is hot or not.

The reason why I'd like to know that, is because I bought this disk a few months ago and my system started to heat up making the palmrest uncomfortable. This made me return to the initial disk and I'm currently using the 7K320 as an external drive.
HOWEVER, just after I received the disk I dropped it ~30 cm onto my desk. So to eliminate any suspicion that the disk is faulty, I'd like to know whether some of my fellow T60 users are running on a calm 7K320 disk.

Thanks!

I have a T60p with a Hitachi 7K320 using Vista 64. System has been on continuously for more than two days.

SpeedFan 4.34 reports HD0 temperature as 40C. The palmrest over the hard drive (right site) is ever-so-slightly warmer than the left side. I would not notice the difference unless I was really paying attention.
Apathy is on the rise, but nobody seems to care.

T60p with 320gb Hitachi

#3 Post by stephenaron » Wed Dec 31, 2008 6:16 pm

I am using the 320gb Hitachi drive in my t60p under Vista Ultimate 32. I have had heat issues with the laptop for almost 3 years. Just had it in AGAIN for service. they replace the fan assembly and now my gpu is at 60 degress and cpu at 50 pretty steadily. Big improvement. Not hot to the touch anymore and not shutting down from over heating.
