#1 Post by Truthfinder » Thu Dec 04, 2008 12:39 am

My current T60 Multi Burner only records to - DVDs. Would anyone know if there is a firmware update which would enable the unit to record to both plus and minus DVDs :?
Thanks one and all.

If you still have the DVD-Recorder that your T60 was originally assembled with, it is capable of recording on plus and minus media. It should be either a HLDS (GSA-4083N) or a PCC (UJ842B). Both can record on the same type of media at identical speeds:

There doesn't seem to be any firmware update available for any of these two recorders for the time being.

If you haven't already done so, try different +R/RW media.

Burner issue

#4 Post by Truthfinder » Thu Dec 04, 2008 6:21 am

My T60, Model 2623D7U came with a : MATSHITA DVD-RAM UJ-842 unit. I've tried several brands of PLUS DVDs and none are seen by the unit. Only Minus DVDs will work.
Any ideas? Would this be covered under the 3 year Warn. ?

You might try re-installing the software which the computer uses to burn DVDs. The current software installation might have been damaged. If it's a hardware problem, i would expect it to be covered by warranty.

The UJ-842 should burn +R disc. I would think it would be covered under warranty. Some reason for the interest in +R media? Maybe more importantly than the type is to use some high quality media.

Defective Multi Burner

#7 Post by Truthfinder » Fri Dec 05, 2008 4:14 pm

Thanks to everyone who responded to my Multi-burner issue.

I ran some tests and determined that the burner is in fact not working as it should. A call to Lenovo to confirm my findings and they are shiiping out a replacement Multi-drive.

As in the past, I have always had great service from my ThinkPads as well as the customer service / tech support.

Again, thanks to all who offered up ideas.
