New owner...love my 2379DXU but I have a few gripes.
Hello all, newbie here and I recieved my 2379DXU 3 days ago. I absolutely love my laptop after having nothing but issues with my dell inspiron 5150 (still at war with dell). I fell in love with the T42 model after my girlfriend's step dad bought a T41 a while back. There's a few things that have bugged the living crap out of me after forking out a good chunk of cash for this laptop. First, i've noticed that alot of the drivers installed aren't the latest version as shown on IBM's web site in the downloads section. One question, why aren't they??? I've had issues with the speed not reading correctly on the properties menu, IBM's access control panel conflicting with windows drivers; couldn't repair my internet connection, it would give me an error. Other wise i'm completly happy with my purchase. This place has been alot of help and I sure have been making alot of use out of the search function lately. I have my hopes that this one will last. Cheers.
yeah, those IBM programs and somewhat outdated...
2 mths ago i bought my T42s (the new one with the finger print that just came out back then), and it came with:
Rescue & Recovery Ultra v4.0 which was an old program.
i had to download a 400 MB monster for the lastest version, R&R v2.0
(it has a lot better management/deletion of backup hard drive images).
for a new T42s sub-model that just came out, why didn't they just give us the latest version of programs?

I assume you are talking about the reading in the system properties menu for the speed reading. If it is lower, like 600mhz, then it is likely throttling it down to save power. If you want a nice program to monitor you system checkout Mobile Meter. If you search the forums you will find it in no time.CrazyJeeper wrote:I've had issues with the speed not reading correctly on the properties menu...
