Cursor problem with R61 - 8934A7U

#1 Post by atwood » Sat Dec 06, 2008 12:20 am

I have an issue with the cursor on my thinkpad that has been ongoing now for a while.

I 'll try to describe it as best I can....

It seems that the cursor will jump to a new place on the screen when I am typing. I might be typing a short note and be on the second or third line when I notice that several words I typed are in the first line of the paragraph. The cursor jumped up a line or two.

This also seems to happen when I logon. I might get 2 or3 of the characters of the password entered and then notice that the logon box is not there - as though I had clicked somewhere else on the screen. I then have to click my username again and try again. This is getting a little annoying. There has been times where I had to click the logon box like four times before I could get the cursor to stay long enough for me to enter my password.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this issue ?

Thanks in advance ?

Is it possible that you are unknowingly brushing the touchpad whilst typing?
Try changing the touchpad settings, or turn it off, to see if this helps. You can access the setting through the key combination Fn+F8 or through Control panel > Mouse.
