trackpoint cover removal

#1 Post by AlanHK » Sat Dec 06, 2008 2:46 am

I fear to ask, but just how do you take off the red foam trackpoint cover, and keep it in one piece?

I guess you just yank it, but having broken enough fragile things by that method thought it better to ask.

It's getting a bit grubby and I want to clean it.
Haven't found much on that except this
page in Korean, which suggests soaking and shaking in detergent.

Yes, I know I can buy a new one.

This posting really caught my attention ... I wonder why?

Just to add to Tom Lightbody's words of wisdom, sugar soap is very good at getting rid of grease. I use it for cleaning all sorts of things. In the UK one can buy it in hardware and decorator shops. It is available in a spray bottle for convenience.

You could always use some tweezers or needlenose pliers if your fingers are too big grap the trackpoint cap. Unless your cap is really really disintegrated from use you don't have to worry about the plastic falling apart.
