dvd burner ultra port ?

dvd burner ultra port ?

can i get one of the ultra port dvd burner's off ebay and slap it into my frankenstien t20-t23 mix parted craptop and use the dvd-cd burner ?

not only under winders but linux also ?


is that possible ? will the ultra port dvd burner be recognized in this series ?

it was origianlly a t20 , but there are parts from a t23 in it also

Any Ultrabay-2000 unit will work in all T20/21/22/23 models.

Don't know what an ultraport is :?:

Ultraport is the port on the top of the display under a rubber cover. However spydergt just made a mistake. =P

I'm not trying to discourage this Ultraport hookup, because I am interested in the answer myself, but it seems to me that since the Ultraport is USB 1.0, and if you're pretty much set in the need for an external optical drive, then an external USB 2.0 drive with a USB 2.0 PCMCIA card is the better path. USB 1.0 is slow for external drives. Frankly for this machine (as others have suggested), an Ultrabay 2000 drive is the best choice.
