copying software

#1 Post by siman » Sun Dec 07, 2008 6:57 pm

Does anyone know of any Cd/dvd burning software that has the ability to read and and write simultaneously using two optical drives.

Preferably i'd like to be able to burn images (as in ISOs) of the cds instead of just copying files.

Any ideasat all are welcome =)

Cheers,
Simon

I think and I could be wrong Nero can do it as well, but it the drives have to be the same with the same firmware as I recall. The forums on CDFreaks would be a good place to pose this question.

Nothing prevents you from simply launching two instances of your burning software and performing separate tasks in each. I've done it with Nero 8 in the past.

Nero is able to do it, just check the option "on the fly", it will read from source and burn to the destination in the same time.

Thanks a lot lads =)

I didn't know the technical term for it so i never came up with anything despite quite a bit of googling
After reading a bit about all of the problems associated with "burning on the fly" I doubt i'll really use it much but i'll try it out and see how it goes =)

Cheers,
Simon

To use another cliché: "You shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth."

EDIT: Somehow this brings to mind a link I saw posted recently on a Linux forum.

And depending upon where you download the "free software" from...

"Beware of Greeks bearing gifts" :)

Note: This is not a racial or national slam against a certain group of people. For those not familiar with this adage, Google it and hopefully you'll understand what I'm talking about when applied to computer malware.

Best trojan horse analogy ever... Nice... (correct me if I'm wrong)

Inline admin note: No, you are not wrong  . That's the meaning I was referring to when dealing with free software that might have come from some sketchy sites (read: torrents).
