Installed New Ram, Not Booting X22

#1 Post by riscphree » Mon Dec 08, 2008 8:25 pm

I've just installed a new 512mb ram stick into my x22 and it won't boot.

I had a 256mb stick in, it boots fine with that in.

Max ram supported is 640mb so I don't know where a problem could be.

Any tips?

Conventional wisdom would say that the 512MB module you just installed is defective. Can you try it out in another PC133 system? Where was it purchased from and would it be possible to return it to the seller and have them verify that it's working? And finally, what's the manufacturer and part number(s) on the module?

I got it off ebay, its some off brand ram. They do exchanges so I'll contact them about it. Thanks.

Did it give error beeps when trying to boot? If so, those will tell you for sure. It seems pretty obvious that the RAM is the culprit though.
