Extended desktop - can I turn power off only laptop display?

#1 Post by serpico » Thu Dec 11, 2008 9:38 pm

When I use my T60 in extended desktop with an external monitor, FN+F3 turns off both displays. Is there a way to turn off only the laptop display?

I often use my laptop to watch movies, but once I get the movie going on the external monitor, I'd rather not have the laptop display on. I know one workaround is to simply use only the external display, but hoping for a more direct solution.

On a sidenote, I've noticed that Presentation Mgr cannot toggle between laptop and external displays if WMP is open.

Well, if you don't need to use the laptop keyboard/mouse, you can just close the lid...

Good idea, but that causes the presentation mgr to switch to external-monitor-ONLY mode.

Should be easy

if you set your main screen to be the external one, and then extends to the laptop screen you should be able to cut that extention when needed so only the external screen displays (acer travelmate, which is far from as good as a thinkpad)
Currently Thinkpad t61p T7700 (and a mac pro & macbook pro)

How do you "cut that extention"?
