Cloning a hard disk.
Cloning a hard disk.
I have been trying to clone a hard disk as backup procedure for a number of days without success on a T22.
I used DiskCopy but it couldn't recognise hot swap of the ultrabay hard disk after I loaded DiskCopy from a CD drive.
I tried 3 ways 44-pin flat cable but it couldn't detect the hard disk once I connected it to the flat cable.
The only idea I got left is to buy a USB CD drive so I can put the original in the hard drive on the hard disk bay and the backup disk on the ultrabay.
Any other ideas please, I read the other thread but couldn't find a solution unless I missed some threads?
Is there anyway I can search the threads using keywords search instead of reading every threads in each section?

Either buy a USB enclosure for 2.5" hard disks such as this:
http://insidecomputer.stores.yahoo.net/ ... lhadr.html
or get a 2.5" to 3.5" hard disk adapter such as this:
http://www.fast-accessories.com/product ... ts_id=1911
This last one requires you to open your PC and use it's IDE cable
And rather than CopyDisk, get a program like Acronis TrueImage.

Cloning hard disk
I use Drive Image XML, it is free for personal use and it will copy my installed hard disk to one in the ultrabay. The resulting copy even boots if I replace the main drive with the copied drive.

I have a very enquiry mind and like know to how things work. Why doesn't T22 or any IBM laptop doesn't like 44-pin cable connected to it hard drive connector as contrast to any PCs. I put a known working 44-pin cable to a Compaq laptop and I can access multiple hard disks with no problem but with IBM laptop no no?
Is it because of the disk presence sensor at the bottom where you put the hard disk makes it think there is no hard disk present or it something to do with the BIOS that required a specified response time without the cable?
