Several things could be happening:

- the wireless card is defective; e.g., it receives but does not transmit
- your wireless access point (WAP) has been set up with MAC (Media Access Control) address filtering
- the password is incorrect or not being inputted properly
- some other software/hardware problem

If mentioning the MAC filtering doesn't jog your memory and you're sure that the password is being typed in correctly, there's a simple wireless diagnostic in the PC Doctor for DOS program:

Some questions come to mind:

- can your T23 connect to any other WAP?
- can other computers connect to your WAP?

I also have a T23 with built-in networking, and one of the first
things I try is to attach the USB wireless receiver I used back
in my T20 days. If it connects but the internal card does not,
that points me towards what to work on.

Sometimes, when that happens, all I have to do is delete the
built-in wireless from Device Manager and just let WinXP
reinstall the device after a reboot.

You could try disabling the encryption on your router temporarily and run wide open to see if you can then connect normally.
If you can, then you can address the setup / driver issues.
Also, in your other thread, you mentioned running xp sp3. This has caused many wifi connection problems - search and you will see.
If its an intel card, you could try updating to their latest driver as opposed to the thinkpad one.
