"rrequired cd/dvd drive device driver is missing"

#1 Post by alpuzz » Thu Dec 18, 2008 8:19 pm

First of all, I'm sorry if this question has been posed elsewhere on this forum. I've tried searching here, as well as Googling. On Google, I've found a lot of hits, people having the same problem, but no solution.
I'm attempting to do a clean install of Vista Ultimate 64 on an X61S. This error comes up a short way into the installation process, about 5 minutes after initially booting the CD. I've tried loading the Intel Storage Matrix driver, but that doesn't seem to be what it wants. Anyone have a fix for this?

Thanks,
--Al

OK, so the drive is the one that was included with the base, and is FRU 39T2829. Any more thoughts would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

What is the manufacturers model of the drive? .e.g. Panasonic UJ-852
