X61 usb boot error

#1 Post by linko » Sat Dec 20, 2008 12:00 pm

I'm trying to boot my X61 from usb, but It will not work.

I have this red usb stick, that is of average quality.
I have my corsair flash voyager, which I feel is of high quality.

When I put my bootable image on the red usb, it boots just fine on my other machines, but it says "Boot error" on the X61.

After trying many flash drives, the corsair is the only drive the X61 will boot.

How come my X61 will not boot from my flash drives, but my other machines will?

Bios Version: 7NETB8WW (2.18 )

Thank you very much for any help.

Here is the same problem:

I just used unetbootin with the Slackware iso, instead of the slackware usb image, and it worked fine. It had to do with the image not being compatible with this thinkpad I suppose.
