Access Connections - Blank Packet (LAN)

#1 Post by budspencer » Sun Jan 16, 2005 7:57 am

I'm using the newest version of IBM's Access Connections. Everthing is working fine, but i still have a question.

my firewall reports a small, nearly blank, packet while using the access connections and LAN connection. This packet appears around every second, even if i don't send anything above the ethernet.

If i use the access connections and WLAN i do NOT have such a blank packet.

I hope that anyone can help me....

Cheers, Buddy

It could just be the packet that makes sure you're still able to "hear" your router.

I think its just checking for the connection.

EDIT: I read your post a little bit closer and I was referring to wireless but I still think the samething applies.

wireless always has to ping to maintain comm with router. unlike wired which is basically conductive so you either know those copper wires are juiced or not

but when i close the access connections and use the "normal windows lan connections", i do also not have such a ping, the same with wlan.

the only situation, the ping appears, is when access connections runs and i have connected my tp by lan.

that's amazing, isn't it?
