Windows OS
Windows OS
We have an OS/2 and Vista sub-forum, shouldn't we have a "Windows XP" sub-forum instead of "Windows OS?" It just seems like it could be a bit confusing for some.

RE: OS sub-forum
Yeah, I run them in virtual machines mostly now, but I still use them. It just seems like we should separate the windows groups or not, instead of clipping off just Vista. I'd say a Widows sub-forum divided into 7 (when it comes,) Vista, XP, 2k, Older, but I think that type of division may not be possible or still in the works.

I don't want to second guess the administrators here, but the new phpBB3 forum that should soon be active has the capability of subforums (phpBB2 does not have that capability).
On an early test run of the phpBB3 software, there was some experimenting, and someone created several main forums with subforums within them. Whether this feature will be implemented by forum.thinkpads.com, I cannot say. Even if it is implemented, I don't know that it will be done until after the forum becomes live.
If subforums are implemented, it would be possible to subdivide the various flavors of Windows, each into their own forum. There is a problem though regarding the existing Windows forum. It would be very time consuming to sift through all the existing threads and separate the various flavors of Windows into their own subforums. I am not sure anyone will want to take on that task.
If the forum structure remains the same as it is now, then I don't think its such a good idea to have a forum for each flavor of Windows, as that would make the index page excessively long. It is somewhat long already.
