I have just tried to install Opensuse 11.1 64-bit www.opensuse.org on my Thinkpad X61s
but get an error message "memory has a hole between 15mb and 16mb".
I noticed that other makes show the same problem but could not figure out how to solve it.
Any info or help would be appreciated.

I'd guess that a BIOS or kernel update would fix this. The only option in BIOS I can see that might have an impact in this area is on the security tab, select memory protection, then disable 'execution prevention'. Then reboot. If that doesn't work, I'd open a bug in the Opensuse bugzilla.

SOLVED: Opensuse 11.1 dual boot installation
I have found the solution. It appears that there is a bug in YAST when you try to install a dual boot. It is not solvable by fiddling around with the bios.
I deleted the hidden recovery partition and this appears to have been the problem. I think Yast cannot handle a hidden partition.
(I also deleted my second virtual drive, but this was probably not necessary)
The error code I received before:
Error
Failure occured during following action:
Setting type of partition /dev/sda7 to 82
System error code was: -1012
has vanished and Opensuse 11.1 now installed without any problems.
Dual-boot works too (I will later change to a virtual machine) as I still need Windows vista for a few Windows-only programs, unfortunately
