Maybe I didn't do something right so I'm looking for advice.
I started running my 2.4 A31p on Boinc/Seti, and I was seeing really hot CPU temps, 81C+, so I stopped doing that. But I have to wonder if the constant 100% CPU should be producing those heat levels.
When I put the 2.4 in ( replacing a 1.8 ), I used arctic silver and followed all the instructions I found, and I hope I did correctly. But maybe, ... did I maybe do it badly, and should I redo it? Or is running the CPU 24/7 at 100% just going to run hot? I had no temp issues before (nor do I now), but I wasn't/amn't running the cpu like Boinc did.
I had been running this for weeks before I checked the heat level. Did I do harm? Would I have done harm? How long can I expect before it fails? How long would I have had, had I not stopped?
Now that I'm not running 100% CPU, things are not so bad, but maybe I should go in and redo the heat sink anyway?

You should redo the heatskink, and you also may want to install ThinkPad Fan Control version 0.33
FWIW, on my (since sold) A31p with a 2.4 CPU I've never seen anything above 55 C.
Good luck.
