Installing New HDD in X61T

I just purchased a larger hard drive for my x61t and can't find a guide for replacing it. I'm pretty confident I could just open up the laptop and switch it out, but it would be nice to see some picture and read a guide before I dive right in. Does anyone know where I could find such a guide? Thanks in advance for your help.

Below are the hardware instructions. Note: The new drive will work in the X61 only if it is placed in the primary hard drive location when you clone, i.e., old drive "outside", new drive "inside". There are numerous threads on this forum with instructions on cloning the old drive onto the new drive. Good luck!

Thanks! That's exactly what I was looking for, and a lot easier than I expected it to be. I googled around and searched the threads here, but couldn't find any information. I guess that's because it's pretty simple. Thanks again for your help.

If you have recovery discs, you could also just pop it in, and use the discs to install the OS and all pertinent partitions. Just don't forget to backup your data.

I used the recovery CD method to upgrade my hard drive.

I installed a new hard drive and noticed that the fan stays on a lot more. Is this normal and is there any way to stop it?

To ask a possibly dumb question, did you check if your new hard drive runs hotter than the old one?
