I have a T60 running XP sp3 for work. I have an external monitor connected and using ATI typically extend my desktop making it easier to have more apps visable.
Last month when i powered on my laptop it wasn't working and I couldn't open the ATI control panel. I uninstalled several things, did the system update for thinkpads reinstalled a couple ATI things and finaly got it to work again. The laptop is stationary on my desk and doesn't get disconnected often.
Last week I took it with me and when I came back and connected the monitor again and rebooted, its not working again and so far uninstalling and reinstalling hasn't worked.
So it seems that if the laptop is rebooted without the monitor connected the software is getting hosed. When I reboot again and again with the monitor, it doesn't come back to recognize the monitor.
Does anyone have any thoughts on this? I have my personal T61 which is what I use for non work and sometimes work and this one runs Vista, I have not had any issue with extended desktop on this system.
Thanks,
Marcy
