So I went to a liquidation sale......

#1 Post by Stargate199 » Mon Jan 05, 2009 7:33 pm

The Atlanta area just had bunch of liquidation sales, so I decided to go one. I managed to pick up a Garmin SteetPilot C340 for $85, but really amazed me was this deal, a Thinkpad 770 that did not turn on for $165. There were a bunch of laptops from that era going for around the same amount. Some turned on and some didn't. I feel so sorry for anyone who thought those things were a deal.

Anyone else had on of these liquidation sales in your area. I would enjoy hearing the "deals" that were there.

What a coincidence, I was just searching this last night before I read the post and found this site http://www.publicsurplus.com. In my city there is a property disposal management office (PDMO) and they have auctions. But when you go to this site you can look at all the auctions available or look in specific regions (i.e. states) and specific regions (i.e. state agencies). Some times the have outrages lots, 90lbs of keyboards.

Edit: Sorry I was thinking auctions and not liquidations you can ignore my post.

There were a couple of them last weekend at the North Atlanta Trade Center and the Cobb Galleria. There were advertisements on radio and TV. I went to the one at the North Atlanta Trade center since most of it was electronics, the Cobb Galleria was mainly clothing. The stuff that was liquidated was the merchandise from stores like Circuit City and such that closed down and did not sell all of their inventory. The liquidation companies gathered all of the unsold merchandise and sent them to these location to be sold to the general public. Many vendors were there also to sell their own merchandise at retail prices or at a slight discount. My GPS was one that came from Circuit City.
