thinkpad cdrom drive

#1 Post by Guest » Mon Jan 17, 2005 10:35 pm

My friend has a thinkpad; I'm not sure when she got it. It has the Windows 98SE O.S. Recently she experienced some problems running it, so she downloaded System Mechanic. This program somehow changed her registry so she couldn't get her Internet provider reinstalled, her display was seriously messed up, and she lost her CDRom drive. I managed to fix her Internet provider and display fixed, but I cannot for the life of me make her CDRom drive work. :? I've downloaded and installed the drivers for it at least five times, and every time the screen claims it was a successful installation. I can't get it to read cds. It spins, and the light comes on, but that is as far as it goes.

Can someone out there help me with this? I'd be forever grateful, and so would my friend.
