1802 and Windows 7

#1 Post by plasticorange » Wed Jan 07, 2009 11:47 pm

So this is the deal: I broke a perfectly good T30.

I created a partition, put Windows 7 on it and made it primary (mistake).

Then when I boot I get the 1802 error. Only thing is my 1802 iso bootable CD doesnt work. I set it to boot from floppy first, but I still get the error message. I dont have a way to change the partition I want to boot from I dont think. I keep getting the error message, even if I put the XP cd in before it boots.

Im thinking that I could remove the wifi card. Then go in and delete the Windows7 partition and pretend this whole thing never happened?

Any other ideas?

Thanks! I feel like a moron and I've spent about 4 hours working on it.

I thought no-1802 was a BIOS hack. If you reset your BIOS or remove the battery it must be done again. I must be missing how this happened while partitioning a hard drive. At any rate, I would remove the wifi card and reload the machine if you can't apply the hack in it's present condition. No other choice really ...

I agree with HarryC, but if for some strange reason this does not work you could pull the drive out and stick it in another computer and format it, all hope is not lost :)

Just remove the card and disable 1802 again. Deleting it will not affect 1802. Dunno how the bios got reset in the first place though.
