Increase screen resolution

#1 Post by drschwartz » Thu Jan 08, 2009 9:57 pm

Is there anyway I can increase my screen resolution on my T43 (model: 26686CU) from 1024X768?

TIA,

Since this is a 14.1 inch XGA with ATI X300, you can replace it with a SXGA+ LCD. Getting a complete display assembly will be the easiest.

Oh I get it. I"d have to buy an LCD and use it as an external monitor?

No, you'd have to swap the whole lid that you currently have with a new one containing a SXGA+ LCD...

It is a simple swap. I have done it with a few T43s with X300 ATI chips.
As suggested, try to buy a complete lid assembly, as handling the LCD panel itself is easy to damage or create "pressure marks".

Used SXGA+ lid assemblies show up on e-bay from time to time. Be sure to ask the seller if it has nicks, white pressure spots, or keyboard marks, if not stated in the listing.

If you have not swapped one before, download the T43 Hardware Maintenance Manual from the Lenovo web site.

Hey

I was about ask the very same question.

I have a T42 that I can get up to 2048 X 1536

The T43 I just bought, can only go up to 1024 X 768..

Not impressed!!!

So, is there any way to get it to a higher resolution using drivers and stuff?

The factory only offered 1600x1200 for T42p ATI GPU 15 inch chassis, T43p had the same option.

Likely you have the intel GPU T43 which were limited to 1024x768.

The intel GPU based MB are mostly free of the BGA detachment problems. They should be much more reliable than ATI versions.

The R52 intel GPU MB will fit in T43 and be able to drive a 1400x1050 LCD.

Hi guys...

Sorry to bring this up again...

I own a T42 that can handle higher resolutions that 1024x768.

Would I be able to swap the lid with the one I have on my T43? Would that enable me to go to higher resolutions that the limit on my T43 which is currently 1024x768??

Any ideas?

What's wrong with the T42 that you would want to swap its LCD display to the T43?

Busted USB ports on the T42, basically. Makes my job very difficult.

I really love the T42 though, but the T43 has now got a full 2GB RAM in it, and I want to make it my main PC.

What's the 7-character model number of your T43?
