windows media player issue with WinDVD 5

#1 Post by skythinkers » Fri Jan 09, 2009 2:49 am

hi,
my T61 just updated the interVideo winDVD 5(come with system) and my windows media player is not able to play DVD now. I can only use the winDVD player to play DVD. Ther error message is "DVD playback is not enabled in this player, click OK to use InterVideo WinDVD for playback".

Any idea how can i make my windows media player work again?

thanks

can't reinstall the media player in Vista and also can't install InterVideo DVD(it's come with system) too. Any other thought?

Install K-lite code pack (check the option "full install without player"). Then you should be able to play any type of DVDs (under certain circumstances some users report that they are not able to navigate through the DVD menu, but I have never experienced such a problem, at least you can try it out).

I found the original verison in another thinkpad and also notice that winDVD updated the copyright part, so it's no longer able to play in windows media player. There is two updates in lenovo.com, don't update it if you want to play DVD in windows media player.

I tried this fix, but it did not work for me. It gave an error message that it could not continue with installation. I am using vista business. Anybody else have any other ideas other than uninstalling WinDVD 5? TIA
