T42 battery charging weirdness

#1 Post by RonKuper » Tue Jan 18, 2005 9:15 am

Twice now I've run into a situation where my ThinkPad while seemingly (stubbornly) not recharge its ultra-bay battery. I've left it suspending overnight, in the morning the little green "charged" lite is all set up, but when a wake it up is reports only 50% battery time, that 1 battery isn't charged.

Both times I fixed it by turning the machine of completely and letting it charge up that way.

Has anybody here ever seen this kind of thing?

TIA.

Sometimes my ultrabay battery will do the same whether its suspended or not. I just pull the battery out and plug it back in. Then it charges right up. I think its some kind of small glitch which I'm not sure if there's a fix or not. It doesn't happen very often with mine, so it doesn't bother me.

This has happened to me as well (2378-FVU). At first I suspected a loose AC-adapter connection, but I now think it may be a finicky transformer in the power supply, because once the system refused to recognize the power cable as being attached (even though plugged into a working outlet), and switching outlets helped.
