R51 Laptop - squealing

The thinkpad is squealing all of a sudden whenever on a flat surface. If held at an angle, it stops. It seems to be from in front of the keyboard. In fact if we hold the top and bottom at the same time (in a pinching motion, I suppose you could say), it also stops. The fan is going. I read somewhere that it might be power management, and that has been disabled in bios. Any ideas?

The hard drive is in that area. Remove the hard drive and see if the noise goes away.
