X301 screen/display problem

#1 Post by salenjak » Sun Jan 11, 2009 4:10 pm

hello there everyone..

I just received my brand new X301 3 days ago, and yesterday I realized that something is very wrong with it.. when I first started it, I noticed this screen flickering, but I was thinking that just system tuning up or whatever.. but yesterday my screen went completely black.. at first I was thinking it was in standby mode, but it wasn't reacting to anything.. I tried restarting it few times, and than the Vista login screen appeared just for a sec, and I figured the thing is actually running, but the screen is not working.. today, I turned it on again, and it worked, but with this annoying screen flickering again, sometimes even going black for a second of few:

so, anyone got any ideas what the hell is wrong with it?!.. I wanted to disable "Intel Smart 2D Display Technology" like explained in this topic - http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=43&t=71110, but my screen is completely black again... also, I bought this laptop in Netherlands, and am now back in Croatia, do you know how the warranty works in those cases?!...

thanx a lot in advance for your help,
saL

That flickering is not normal. Send it in for repair. Contact Lenovo in your country to inquire about how the warranty works locally. CROATIA 385-1-6308-200

just wanted to let you all know that it looks like it was a motherboard problem (at least thats what they said).. I got the laptop back from the shop on friday, and everything seems ok.. except that my screen goes black, and Im gettin that annoying "display driver igfx stopped responding and has successfully recovered" message every now and than.. anyone know if there is a fix for that problem!?.. Im about to go for a trip on friday, and I need this laptop with me, so I'd rather not touch that than instal something that will mess up my laptop totally.. any ideas!?...

cheers,
saL
