Heard the fire smell in my laptop ( T61 )

Hi everybody , I have a T61 used from 7 in 2008 to the present. Today, when I attached the adapter to the computer without signal lights. After i remove adapter and attached again , i see the light from the battery and power blinks, then I heard the fire smell, Now, my laptop can't power on, and light from the battery and source blinks continuously, I remove the battery and still heard the fire smell in my laptop ( battery no problem ). I don't think the power adapter because it not the fire, and I use my laptop with automatic voltage stabilizer . Please tell me about problem with my laptop ? Sorry , my English not good . Did you hear a noise or did you smell something?

Electronics have a very distinctive smell to them when they burn or overheat.

I am not aware of any temperature alarm bell in the laptop.

Was the adapter energized (plugged into AC power) when you inserted it's 12V connecter into the T61?

If so, it may have been static electricity arcing that you heard as you were inserting the power connecter. That in turn may have fried a nearby electrical component within the T61 which caused the smell. It sounds like trip to the repair shop is now required unless you want to try tearing the T61 apart yourself if you are knowledgeable about laptop electrical repairs.

It is usually recommendend for most all electronic devices that one should always connect the AC power to the wall plug or surge protector last so that any static spark will fry the surge protector or the wall plug's house fuse/circuit breaker rather than the electronic device itself.

Yes , I'm Use original adapter of my T61 , when i I attached the adapter to my laptop , i see the light from the battery and power blinks and then i heard the fire smell in T61 . I think something was fire

Sorry about your laptop ...... Did you actually see a spark of light when you inserted the power connector into the laptop? If so, then it may have been static electricity. Try unplugging the AC connector from your voltage stabilizer (leave the 12V power connector attached to the latop) and try plugging the AC into a different voltage stabilizer or even just a simple surge protector (maybe your original voltage stabilizer is bad). In the future, connect the 12V connector to the laptop first and then plug the AC cord into your voltage stabilizer or surge protector.

Beyond that, it looks like internal repairs may be necessary. Sorry
