T22 won't come back from standby
T22 won't come back from standby
T22 2647-8EU. Did a fresh install of WinXP [formatted whole disk NTFS after deleting all partitions] from an employer-supplied generic image. SP2, SP3. Got the latest BIOS from Lenovo's support site. Got the power management driver, the Windows XP Installation supplement, the Battery Miser. Haven't run the ThinkVantage System Update 3.14 since the Lenovo site doesn't mention the T22 as supported.
Problem: when we suspend the machine (either by closing the lid, or by Windows Start > Shut Down > Suspend), the screen goes black, but the disk continues to spin (the half moon doesn't light). And we can't bring it back, the only way is to press the power button until the machine restarts.

Are there any yellow question marks in System Device Manager? Have you installed the ACPI driver? T22 should be supported by System Update.

Re: T22 won't come back from standby
System Update works on my T21 even though it says "not supported." Also, my WinXP SP3 TP properly comes in and out of Suspend by closing and opening the lid with the latest ACPI driver.

Re: T22 won't come back from standby
Thanks for the replies!
No yellow question marks. I have the latest ACPI driver (asked Windows to see if there was a more recent one, in Device Manager). Installed and ran the System Update, got 5 updates, including the Hotkeys package. I tried suspend this time with Fn-F4, same result, drive continues to spin, can't bring it back.
I tried disabling the wifi network connection (through a Linksys WPC54G ver.4). This seems to have fixed it: it suspends and resumes in all three ways (lid, Fn-F4, Windows log off).
I wonder if there's a way around needing to disable the network connection . (Does the Linksys Wireless Lan manager program make a difference? How do you disable that?)

Re: T22 won't come back from standby
Check in the wifi card's Device Manager if Windows is allowed to shut it off (when not required, to save power).
Although, since that is a PCMCIA card (stuck in what really is a USB port), I'm not sure if that would work...
Have you tried it while using an Ethernet cable?

Re: T22 won't come back from standby
The driver has "allow Windows to turn it off" checked under power management. Haven't tried it with an ethernet cable, won't be able to do so for a couple of weeks.
Thanks again!
Thanks again!
Re: T22 won't come back from standby
Solved.
The Linksys Wireless-G Wlan Monitor and Windows Wireless Zero Configuration don't play well together with standby, etc. Completely uninstall the Monitor. Reinstall the driver only (either from the Linksys driver download (NOT installing the Monitor), or there's one for the chipset from the original manufacturer, it's called inprocomm_ip2220_v3.07.02.2005.zip). WZC and the driver alone will play well with standby.
Thanks for your help!
