Probably the same purpose as fiddling with the odometer in a car: cough-fraud-cough.

Dobrea
hehe
And the purpose of resetting the cycle count is?
I have an old battery, if I only change cells the microcontroller won't charge it to "Design capacity" (62Wh), it thinks that the full charge capacity is for example 2Wh. Also I reseted chip in cartridges for my old Epson printer - after this operation I was able to add ink (similar problem).
Probably the same purpose as fiddling with the odometer in a car: cough-fraud-cough.
Probably not ...

Cycle count and capacity gauge are two different functions. You can reset the gauge with Power Manager.

This function didn't work with my battery, maybe something wrong is with the x40. So you are sure that (if electronics works fine) capacity gauge could change charge level to design ? Thanks for feedback.

Not quite sure what you used for cells. Not all LiIon cells are made alike.

Normally the Rest Gauge utility will run the battery down, recharge, then reset the gauge.
