ThinkPad 600X Replacement
ThinkPad 600X Replacement
I really enjoy the solid feel of my ThinkPad 600X. I need a similar laptop for a client I'm working with, and while the 600X feel and size is perfect, the job demands a 2GHz or faster processor. I've been looking at some used laptops, but they all lack the sturdy, solid feel of the 600X keyboard.
Can anyone recommend to me a 600X replacement (old or new) that is a similar form factor and feel? If not a ThinkPad model, I'd consider a >sob< non-ThinkPad.
(Note that I can't use a Lenovo because it's the only laptop manufacturer not on the client's Approved Vendor list)

I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed, or numbered!

Re: ThinkPad 600X Replacement
That's a pretty tough call...
For many people, 600x had the best keyboard ever seen on a laptop. As for the feel of the entire machine, although I'm not a 600 series buff, I'll admit that it's likely the sturdiest ThinkPad ever built...
Now, when you say 2Ghz CPU...which generation are you referring to? P4M, PM, Core Duo or Core 2 Duo? Knowing that would give one a better idea of what machine to possibly suggest...
And if someone really likes the keyboard and general feel of a 600x, nothing but a ThinkPad will ever do IMO...

Re: ThinkPad 600X Replacement
For sturdiness, a T30 might just do the job (CPU up to 2.6GHz).
Don't know how the keyboard compares though.

Re: ThinkPad 600X Replacement
What Lenovo ought to do is remake the 600X with modern innards...
Sorry, off-topic.
