T22 and T42 hardware temperature

#1 Post by zver17 » Tue Jan 18, 2005 11:25 pm

what is the best way to find out the temperature of the CPU and other componnets in T22 and T42 thinkpads?

in particular from time to time the air from the t22 feels really hot. after the fans kicks in the temperature seems to drop (as it should, obviously), but i am a bit bothered.

thanks - got the mbilemeter running @ 62C while browing web/playing avi files - the fan hasnt kicked in yet. what would be the good / critical operating temperatures for a T22 (P3-900MHz,20GB drive) and a t42 (P-M 1.7GHz,7200rpmHDD)?

ok, i ran a 100% cpu utilisation task for a at least 5min and at 60C the fan kicked in. the temperature reached 75C and kept there with the fan noticeably speeding up. after task finished temperature went down to 55C quite quickly. HDD temperature stayed @ 42C. this is running off the AC adapter. is this normal?

does anybody know if mobilemeter gauges the CPU or the mobo temperature, and would 75C be dangerous operating temperature at 100% CPU levels for a Pentium-III 900MHz? many thanks.
