T21 Maximum Hard Disk Size

#1 Post by Hippo » Wed Jan 19, 2005 4:13 am

I have recently purchased a IBM Thinkpad T21 from an ebay seller and Im really happy with it. However the HDD is only 12GB :(

Im going to replace the HDD, but what is the maximum size in GB that the T21 will recognise? Will it support 5400RPM drives?

Thanks in Advance

Hippo,

Don't know the largest size drive that the T21 will support (my guess would be 80Gb) but I can tell you that I'm happily running a 5400rpm 40Gb in mine. Definitely an improvement in response as you would expect but best of all it is so quiet now!

I have three T21s in use with 7K60 HDs and they're all running without any problems.

my T20 has a 100GB in it. No problems, it is all standards interfaces anyway, so I guess a 120GB in Q2/2005 would work as well.
