IPS Revelation

I have read this board for a few years now and always hear people talk about how great IPS is/was. I own a T43, T60, and T61P, and recently aquired a T60P at work that has an IPS panel. I totally didn't know what i was missing. IPS is so far superior to the other standard screens that its not even funny. It's so good that i would rather use this older T60P as my primary machine over all my newer beefier ones. I guess my next step is to compare this IPS screen to a LED screen. Which is better?

Please Lenovo, bring back IPS!!!

IPS refers to the panel technology whereas LED is just the type of light source behind the screen

EDIT: And you just reminded me how much I regret to not have purchased a T60p with a Flexview display when I had the opportunity to... Instead of that I have to put up with this stupidly and wide and highly contra-productive screen with far not so great viewing angles and weird color allocations (I don´t know what you call the phenomenon where the same color doesn´t look the same over the whole screen...)

It's called NTSC (Never The Same Color), same as those crap US televisions.
Give me PAL anytime!
(although these are most likely not related to your problem. Just wanted to vent my frustration with the poor US television system).

That´s why I never watch TV... (actually, it is mostly because of the crap shown there, but I wanted to show some understanding for your situation unlike your explicit ignorance to my problem ).

Technically, the lack of a identical hue across a screen that is supposed to be showing the a full field of constant hue is referred to as a "colour purity" problem (though in fact it is usually not entirely a purity issue).

Mr. Bolton, thanks for that clarification and for the reference you provide here. Computer screens and colours are indeed a very interesting topic. Looking at the same screen over months, one becomes quite observative as to its advantages and disadvantages...
