Which interface?

Hi,

I want buy new DVD-RW for my laptop (TP R61i). DVD-RW with which interface should I buy (ATA, IDE, SATA), because I don't know how to check it?

Now I have DVD-RW M a t s u s h i t a UJ-850.

What's wrong with the old one? The interface is ide, but ThinkPads use a different connector. You'll have a tough time making an off the self drive work.

If you want an internal DVD-RW drive for your ultrabay slot, then you need an Ultrabay Enhanced drive (12.7mm height) or an Ultrabay Slim drive (9.5 mm height). The former will fit tightly, the latter will leave a small gap in the ultrabay slot. However, make sure the drive doesn't say "Serial ATA" as this will only work in the newer R400/R500/W700.
If you want an external DVD-RW drive, choose one with a USB interface.
