An addendum to this - is there anyone here who did as I did, and reinstalled Windows from the CDs, and THEN got the GPS driver/utility from the Lenovo site and installed it, but had no problem doing so?

I'm going crazy here trying to figure out why I'm getting this installer error that looks for all the world like something wrong from Lenovo.

I shall call them about it, in any case.
