2378FVU display question

#1 Post by aamsel » Wed Jan 19, 2005 3:40 pm

Interesting that when you pull up the 2378FVU on the website, it says:

Display...(Std) 14.1 inch SXGA+ (1400x1050) TFT Display with wide viewing angle and high density.

The screen is NOT a Flexview, so I am assuming that it can not be "wide viewing angle and high density" and that this has to be incorrect ????

Andrew, why?

SXGA+ resolution on a 14" screen is a pretty high pixel density (40% higher than 1280x1024 on an 18" display).

As for their viewing angle, chalk it up to marketing semantics. AFAIK, there's no official "wide viewing angle" standard, so the question is "wide relative to what?"

It is a mistake, no question...the website is wrong.
TABOOK says that the 14.1" SXGA+ is 150 nits and the 15" Flexview says 200 nits, wide viewing angle with IPS technology.
Just another website error, that's all.

Which Thinkpad do you have, mago ????

I have the 2378-FVU. It's definitely NOT what I would consider a wide viewing angle compared to my desktop LCD (although it's no worse than any other laptop I've seen), but I wouldn't put it past IBM to try to pass it off as one. :)

It's a Typo on the website and I don't know why it has taken so long to correct it.
Also there are NO 14.1" Flexview screens.

Just curious, why do you ask "Andrew, why?" since this is the model that you bought???
Just wondering?????
