I have a user who's been having issues with his computer lately.. running windows XP. I don't have the computer with me. have only communicated over the phone and email.
he tells me that his wireless will not connect upon resuming from standby. i have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver.
have been having a lot of trouble with this computer lately, including win32 and svchost errors. could be a virus? but didn't know if this issue was related.
any help would be greatly appreciated
thank you!

Hi,
Sorry, but your facts are very sparely so far.
What WLAN card is installed?
Which wlan driver did you use? The one is provided by Lenovo?
If you use ThinkVantage Access Connection: Which version is installed?
Did you update the Power Management Driver recently?

Welcome to the forum.
In Access Connections, under the Configuration tab, there is a location switching list. Make sure his local WiFi profile is in this list and configured properly.

Re: T43 Wireless doesn't work after resume from standby
Is this the actual wifi connection that won't work, or Windows (web browser, e-mail) that won't make contact with the web?
I am just trying to solve similar connection problems with a bunch of TPs and a router, where the machines show a connection after coming out of standby or sleep mode, but can't actually get to any web page unless the computer is rebooted; and I have the impression that the following might help:
- uninstall Access Connections
- in the Properties for the wireless connection in Windows, under TCP/IP, ensure that the addresses of the DNS servers are manually entered instead of automatically (taken from the internet provider).
- do the same in the router settings: manually set DNS addresses.
It's just a suggestion. Been running it for a day like that now and the connection seems more stable. It might be all of this or just one. So you could try the DNS settings in the router first, and if that solves the problem, fine. If it doesn't, go for the wifi DNS settings in Windows. Ultimately, remove AC.
Generally, Win XPdoes a fair job of connecting laptops to wifi networks and you don't really need AC for that. Especially if the laptop usually stays in the same place (home network).
