Accessing XP section of HD via Mandriva

#1 Post by stuartf » Wed Jan 21, 2009 11:24 am

XP has once again gone belly up; I am in the process of making the transition to Mandriva and want to get access to some documents stored on the XP section of the drive. When I try to get there via Mandriva I am told that I don't have permission to access it. Perhaps I need to log in as "root" but (I told you I am new to Linux, didn't I?) am not sure hw to do that.

Any hints on how to get these docs??

Many thanks,

In MCC (Mandriva Linux Control Center) "Give write access to ordinary users." for the partition in question. IIRC, you might need to mount the drive and use the Advanced or Expert option button. You will need to reboot for changes to take effect. (I am not in Mandriva at the moment to give more specific info.)
