no sound at all help plz!

i have just recently formated my hard drive and did a clean install of xp pro 32 bit on my R61 7733 a98. i installed think vantage and sp3 almost everything works fine but i cant find my sound device. each time i boot up i get new hardware wizard come up for my sound device. i went to lenovos website and went followed the instructions a bunch of times but i cant find soundmax anywhere on my machine. nothing happens when i hit the volume buttoms on the keyboard, nothing comes up on the screen. in device manager under sound and vidieo controlers i dont have soundmax like i thought i should and theres a a yellow question mark under devices that says audio device on high definition audio buss. I have been at this for days, have spent hrs and hrs and i cant fix this problem. can any one here help me or point me to somewhere or someone who can? I have absolutly no sounds not system beeps, nothing.

I found this link on the Lenovo website for the audio driver for your ThinkPad.
Try to install this one. Read the instructions first! The instructions say that if an older version is installed, it should be de-installed and the computer be re-booted before installing this driver.
