T61p freezes when on battery

#1 Post by sb37 » Mon Jan 26, 2009 2:48 pm

Hi --

Maybe somebody can help me with this problem which has been impossible to solve. I have a t61p and I'm running Vista 32. When I'm on battery, my computer will often freeze, but not at predictable times. Sometimes it will work for 2 hours before freezing, and sometimes it will not freeze at all. When freeze occurs, I get a spinning cursor in the active application but other applications still respond. Within a minute, all application cease to respond and I am forced to hard reboot.

I tried reinstalling Vista, and wiped my entire computer to do this, but that did not solve the problem. Has anyone had a similar problem, and does anybody know of a possible solution?

Thanks!
Scott

hmm...maybe i think the problem lies in the power manager settings..

goto the power manager settings and see the processor performance and everything related to memory and wireless and all those stuff..maybe all of them were set by default to low in your laptop and hence when u get into battery mode, everything becomes slow...just a thought!!! try the things that i have told you above and let us know the changes you see...

have a nice day!!!

Hey -- the issue was related to a power management bug with the intel drivers. Seems several other people were having the same problem and had a fix. Here's a solution: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=51908
