I recently had a mobo fail. The repair shop installed a new mobo. The ethernet port is not working now. Device manager does not display it. I tried installing new hardware to no avail.
The old mobo was 2672-n7u, p/n 91p7345, fru p/n 91p7347.
The new mobo is 2673-pbu, p/n 91p7349, fru p/n 91p7351.
Also, the bluetooth card I installed give me a "no access" message when I try to select a service from my bluetooth gps.
AND, the Intel Pro Wireless 2200 card I had in the machine would not work so the repair shop installed a 2100 card which does not work nearly as well.
It is a mess. Any ideas on how to resolve these issues??
Thanks
Don

Re: x31 does not recognize ethernet
intel Ethernet:
It should be one of the "unknown" devices with a yellow question mark. Read the intel driver text file carefully.
intel Pro2200bg:
You may need to run the utility install first. Again, read the driver install file.
BT:
If the drive had installed correctly, you need to turn on the BT modem. This can be done in the Access Connection or the BT icon in the Task Tray.

Re: x31 does not recognize ethernet
Thanks for the help.
I can only find "Intel(R) Pro /100 VE Network Connection-packet scheduler" in the device manager when I click " view" and "show hidden devices".
If i open the above and click on properties and driver and update driver, it will not let me update it or delete it. When trying to update with a driver from the Lenovo site i get a message that the driver i have is the best one.
When i try to delete the driver i get a message that i cant delete it because it is needed in the boot process.
Ive run Belarc and pc wizard and pc doctor and none of them report the ethernet as being in the computer.
When the computer is undocked I DO NOT get light(s) at the Ethernet plug-in when a cable is attached from the router.
When the computer is docked I get a green light at the cable connector even when the cable is not plugged in.
The original mobo, 2672-n7u had a 10/100 ethernet(LOM).
The new mobo, 2673-pbu has 1Gb Ethernet(LOM).
Could this be part of the problem? Wrong/no driver for the ethernet?
Is there a way to tell if the ethernet system is even working?
Thanks
Don

Re: x31 does not recognize ethernet
Usually a link light will be on when a cable is connected. Take a close look at the contacts inside the LOM ethernet jack to make sure they are in the correct place/slots.
There is only one driver for the intel Pro10/100/1000. So it must be one of the unknown device with a yellow question mark. Read the text file installation instruction as follow it as close as you can.
