Cleaning a decanter

#1 Post by killer » Tue Jan 27, 2009 1:24 pm

I have several lead crystal decanters, one of them an antique. Over the years they have become stained and murky inside. I have tried everything to clean them without success. :(

Then someone told me to use the stuff that people use to clean dentures. (One well-known brand name here is Steradent.) So, I bought a really cheap alternative to Steradent and it works a treat! :D I now have sparkling decanters.

'Acid' sent a few people of their heads ... Syd Barratt for example.

Actually, the denture cleaner does contain mild acids.

As Jerry Shirley once put it, "He (Syd) never convinced me that he was crazy..."

Eccentric for sure...

Gifted like very few others...

Hard-headed like most Capricorns...

And if anyone wants to blame drugs for what happened to Mr. Barrett, throw a little Mandrax in the picture as well...a very important part in two deadly, British-only mixtures of the late 60's and early 70's....

There are times I wonder how any of us, who were old enough to know better, survived the 60's and early 70's. If you wern't doing dope, you knew someone who did, and likely got yourself in a situation where he could have killed you.

(On reflection, it possible we survived because, as Hunter S. Thompson noted, downers came in with Nixon.)
