X300 software gone sour

#1 Post by jamess » Wed Jan 28, 2009 8:18 am

My X300 is having more and more BSODs and I would like to make a restore. Since I can't perform custom restore and only have restore DVDs full of other not wanted software, i would somehow like to make clean vista business install and add only those thinkvantage software that I like.

But how can I do that since I don't have Vista Business DVD with me? Can I download something from the www and simply use my OEM key that's on the sticker on the housing of my laptop?*

Thanks a lot for helping me out!

I managed to install a clean copy of Vista and it's working great and FAST.

The only problem I seem to be having is how to use the Sierra Wireless MC8775 WWAN miniPCI card inside? Can I use this without installing Access Connections?

Also - is it advisable to use ThinkVantage Power Manager at all? I much prefer speed over fancy diagrams etc.

Thanks!

You could always use Vista built-in power options. But I believe Lenovo Power Manager has better functionality, better overview and also works better achieving longer battery life and controlling the noise and heat level of the laptop.
