#1 Post by sergi0 » Thu Jan 29, 2009 10:48 am

Hi folks,

The title should be pretty clear about my needs...

I search a thinkpad s30, preferably with built-in ethernet, I will consider any proposition. The same for a butterfly 701C...:)

sergi0, have you seen an S3* in person? If not, I strongly recommend you to Google up lots of photos of the S series and look at them closely before buying one. I had an S30 last year and thought it was one of the most disappointing Thinkpads ever. In particular, I hated how the battery and the keyboard stick out. Needless to say, I sold it immediately. By contrast, the 240Z that I received last week is miles nicer. There are several models of the 240Z that have 600MHz PIII, built-in ethernet, and 10.4" XGA, and the RAM can be increased to 256MB by disabling the onboard RAM. Such a 240Z has the same specs as the S3*. The S3* does have one more USB port, but the 240Z with the 3-cell battery has the advantage of being about 0.15 pounds lighter.

Hi,

Yes, I already owned one and I was even able to locate a brand new LCD, battery and US keyboard. I had great time with it, but I sold it because I needn't it anymore... I regret it now.
I don't remeber to had problem with the keyboard, but I work with a new US one. The japanese one was very effective.

Interesting. Well, if you come across a 240Z, I strongly recommend you to give it a try because you might like it even more.

PM, me for my S30. It has been bought here on the forum, but I just bought an HTC Shift, so it needs to go. (not for any price by the way).
