802.11a/b/g Mini PCI Adapter II

#1 Post by WilsonF » Thu Jan 20, 2005 7:01 pm

I got one of these in my new T42p and noticed that a problem that I had with the original 802.11 a/b/g Mini PCI adaper in the prior T42p doesn't happen now. the older one constantly dropped connections on the A band with my D-Link DWL-7100AP access point. The new one doesn't. Except for the new T42p, nothing on my home network has changed, so I'm pretty sure that the "Adapter II" has an advantage of some kind over the original a/b/g card.

Can one install the Adapter II in place of an "Adapter I" in a T41?

Ah, thanks for pointing that out Wilson. I had observed this, but just thought it might have been me. I have the same WAP as you. Though, I have to admit, I was always more suspicious of the D-Link product being the culprit and not the Atheros card. But, guess I might have been wrong to doubt the D-Link.
