T61 and T60 super pi speeds

I have a T61 and T60 run a super pi test the results were 1.13m and .35m respectively.

Now my T61 has a T7250 Intel Core 2 duo while the T60 has a T2500 Core Duo, both running on 3 gigs of ram.
I am running Windows 7 on the T61 and XP on T60. While the question seems obvious in addition to why is the T61 calculating super pi at a much lower speed, does 2 different types of ram effect the overall speed of the system? The configuration of the T61 ram is that 1gb from lenovo and 2gb from corsair ValueSelect both DDR2 5300(s).

Is there a way to check the cpu speed other then comparing super pi tests? Thanks!

PS. Ran a CPU performance test with PerformanceTest 6.1 (http://www.passmark.com/products/pt.htm)
Results in a estimated CPU speed of 798.0 MHZ

If you mean cpu performance, there are many ways to do this, resp. many different benchmark programs. Matlab has a built-in benchmarking function, Everest also has, you can run calc in windows and let it compute n! (n factorial) for big n-s, but you will have to time it manually, you can google for benchmark programs, there are really many out there, you can download 3DMark and run only the cpu tests etc. It is general practice to install matching pairs of RAM (even if asymmetrical), that means also from the same vendor, same product line, same timing etc to avoid mismatches. As to why your T61 performs worse than your T60, I believe the answer is that Super Pi is probably not suitable yet for Win 7 beta (although it can run on it) or Win 7 beta is simply slower than XP, which I hope won´t be the case with the final release... If you are just looking for a stressing program, google for burn-in software. That would stress your hardware pretty good for a couple of hours.

A few things to consider:
1. Power Manager scheme
2. Intel speedstep
3. Even on full performance power scheme, the cpu core speed won´t stay at 2 GHz and will drop to arounf 1 GHz more or less (in your case about 800 Mhz)
4. Applications running in the background

Download CPU-Z and run it. Start your preferred browser or MS Office and observe the increase in the core speed (the multiplier changes).

BTW, how many digits did you let super pi calculate?

PassMark has very good burn-in program for stressing.

Ran another test in both the cpu benchmark and super pi. It now displays around 27 second ( 1 min better) and 1570mhz in benchmark. What gives?? I didnt do anything to the computer and all of a sudden its performing better.

Read my previous post... That said, maybe you haven´t found the best suitable tests available on the web .. or you are doing something wrong with the test procedure...
